The Camas Washougal Post Record ran a story about Young Men in Action, featuring Rotarian, Larry Keister.  The Young Men in Action, one of the signature programs of the Rotary Club of Camas Washougal, completed seven weeks of mentoring for fifth grade boys at Hathaway Elementary in Washougal.  The companion program, Young Women in Action, was completed in February and March of this year with eight weeks of mentoring.
The Rotary Club of Camas Washougal is proud of the two programs that provide mentoring and leadership training for fifth graders at Hathaway Elementary.  Many volunteers help with the programs each week--eight weeks for the YWIA and seven weeks for YMIA.  The students learn manners, hygiene, proper handshaking, etiquette, nutrition and fitness, finances, career options, and much more.  The students spend about two hours each week with the mentors in a structured program.  The programs also include field trips--a restaurant and hair styling for the girls and a restaurant and a fire station for the boys.  Some of the students who have previously gone through the program have commented how meaningful it was for their life.  Read the Post Record's article here:
